Younger children vs. teens
The two audiences barely overlap in practice. Under about eight, the wins are short, contained and close to a washroom: indoor play centres, splash parks, sandy beaches with shallow entry, farms and mini-golf, and museums built around touching things. Teens want something with a skill, a score or a social element — climbing and bouldering, go-karts and axe throwing, escape rooms, wakeboarding and bike parks, late-night bowling and arcades. Each listing is tagged for the audience we've verified, so a venue that genuinely works for both shows up whichever way you're browsing.
Indoor and outdoor options
Summer here is outdoor by default — beaches, parks, orchards and water activities — but July and August afternoons regularly pass 33°C, and smoke can arrive with little notice. Winter and shoulder season flip it: indoor climbing, trampoline and play centres, bowling, arcades, galleries and museums. Free and low-cost outings
